The Financial Services Authority (FSA)

The FSA regulates the marketing and promotion of stakeholder and personal pensions.

The Pension Service

The Pension Service is part of the Department for Work and Pensions.

The Pension Service produces a series of guides about pensions, including one on stakeholder pensions. These guides will help you make a decision about the best pension option for you.

There are also stakeholder pension guides available for employers and pension scheme providers.

The OPAS stakeholder helpline

OPAS is an independent organisation which operates a telephone helpline (08456 012923) dedicated to providing members of the public with impartial information and guidance on any aspect of stakeholder pensions. Calls are charged at a local rate. Available 9 to 5pm Monday to Friday.

The Inland Revenue

The Inland Revenue is responsible for the rules governing the taxation of pensions and tax approval of pension schemes. The Inland Revenue stakeholder pensions website OPAS (the Pensions Advisory Service)

Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority (Opra)

Opra is the UK regulator of pension arrangements offered by employers. Opra is responsible for registering stakeholder pension schemes and regulating compliance with the requirements. It maintains and publishes the register of stakeholder schemes.
